A transfer is not a single button. It is a short sequence of changes that must happen in the right order. Do them out of order and the account can lock, or the previous owner keeps a way back in.
Before anything is shared
- Price, payment method and timeline are agreed in writing.
- The buyer knows which email and phone will be attached.
- Both sides are available at the same time — transfers go wrong when one side disappears halfway.
The correct order
- 1Seller disables two-factor authentication.
- 2Seller changes the registered email to the buyer's email and the buyer confirms it.
- 3Seller changes the phone number to the buyer's number and the buyer confirms it.
- 4Buyer changes the password.
- 5Buyer logs out of all other devices from the security settings.
- 6Buyer enables their own two-factor authentication and saves the backup codes.
- 7Buyer unlinks any old Facebook page, business tools or scheduling apps.
The buyer should be the last person to touch the security settings. Always.
